Faulkner Bronze Co finger plate

Description

A copper finger plate made by the Faulkner Bronze Company or Jesson, Birkett & Co, circa 1904.

An extremely well made finger plate in quite a heavy gauge of copper. The finger plate appears as design No. 372 in the Faulkner Bronze Co catalogue dating to around 1901. It was continued when the firm was reconstituted as Jesson, Birkett & Co in 1904 and appears in later catalogues dating to around 1905.

It was covered in paint when I found it but it was easily removed and the details of the leaves at each end of the finger plate are now beautifully crisp. The whole finger plate has a hand planished finish.
