Fivemiletown Class copper twin handled vase

Description

A twin handled copper vase attributed to the Fivemiletown Class from Co. Tyrone in Ireland, circa 1900.

The vase has a very nice repousse design of flowers and leaves around the body. This style of vase is very typical of the Fivemiletown Class with the loop handles in particular a feature of their work. The class was taught by both John and Mary Williams during the 1890s. Both provided designs for the Class and it is likely that the repousse design on this vase came from the hand of one of the Williams’.
