Gordon Russell brass bowl

Description

A rather special brass bowl with cast legs designed by Gordon Russell in 1924.

The bowl has a simple decoration to the rim and three cast scrolled feet which are riveted to body. The restrained design is typical of Gordon Russell and this is certainly the best piece I have had by him so far.

The bowl is unmarked but this design appears in the catalogue of metalwork held by the Gordon Russell Museum. Made in various sizes and with slightly differing designs of feet. The design, No. 174, dates to 1924 and was most likely made at the Russell Workshops.

A very rare piece designed by Gordon Russell and in great, original condition.
