Gordon Russell brass chamberstick

Description

A brass chamberstick made at the Gordon Russell Workshops between 1927 and 1929.

The chamberstick is hand planished with a simple punched decoration. The loop handle has lovely detailing and is riveted back on the body.

The base of the chamberstick is stamped “R W Ltd” which enables us to date this piece accurately. Russell and Sons Ltd changed its name to Russell Workshops Ltd on 4th November 1927, and again to Gordon Russell Ltd on 28th September 1929.

A very simple and elegant piece of Cotswold School design most likely by Gordon Russell.
