Potteries Guild of Cripples copper picture frame

Description

A repousse copper photograph frame set with a ceramic roundel and made by the Potteries Guild of Cripples between 1904 and 1907.

The frame has lovely repousse work very much in the Glasgow Style and typical of the work of the Potteries Guild at this time. The frame is set with an emerald green ceramic roundel. The back has a simple fold out stand and a holder for a glass insert. There is a glass insert that fits well and which may, or may not be, original.

This photograph frame is illustrated in the Potteries Guild of Cripples catalogue (No. 1449), circa 1905 , described as a photo frame in antique copper repousse, with enamel. A very rare early piece of what was to become the Duchess of Sutherland Cripples Guild.
