Norman and Ernest Spittle brooch

Description

A silver plate on copper brooch set with Ruskin Pottery roundel made by Norman and Ernest Spittle in 1902.

I am pretty sure this brooch is silver plate on copper. The brooch is marked with “Guild Button N&ES” and “Registered No 388979”. The “Guild Buttons” were produced in quite high numbers by the Spittle brothers at this time and you quite often see them also as brooches or napkin ring holders.

The blue ceramic roundel is a superb Ruskin Pottery roundel.

The registered number dates this piece to 1902.
