A E Jones silver buckle set with amethysts

Description

A silver buckle set with amethysts made by A E Jones in 1907.

The buckle is an early and rare design by Jones. The use of amethysts at this time is quite unusual but, having said that, this is the second buckle I have had using amethysts. As expected, both pieces of the buckle are hallmarked for Birmingham, 1907. One side is stamped with Jones’s makers mark.

A small but perfectly formed and very attractive piece. The buckle is likely cast and then hand finished. Three leaf designs radiate out from the centrally mounted amethysts on each side of the buckle.
