A E Jones silver and copper cigarette box

Description

A silver plated cigarette box attributed to A E Jones, circa 1920.

The lid of the box has a brass flower motif surrounded by a copper section edged with a brass decorated band. The riveted legs and subtle hammered finish are typical of A E Jones designs. The inside of the box is cedar wood lined with the original divider.

The under side of the box has a makers mark for what I believe is Simplex Conduits. Thomas Birkett went to work for Simplex Conduits in 1910 when Jesson, Birkett and Co closed down. It is documented that Jones continued to make some designs for Simplex Conduits at this time.
