Item 448

John Pearson copper mirror

Description

A superb example of a repousse copper mirror by John Pearson, circa 1900.

John Pearson was one of the original metalworkers at the Guild of Handicraft. His repousse work is both distinctive and incredible well worked. His designs are also unique and imaginative. Although this piece is unmarked there is no doubt it is by Pearson. Some of his work was signed and dated but many pieces were unmarked, possibly because they were being retailed by others such as Liberty & Co.

The mirror is a good size and has a wonderful repeating pattern of birds and flowers.

In good condition and with a lovely even patina.
