Fivemiletown Class copper wall box
Description
A stunning repousse copper wall box made by the Fivemiletown Class, circa 1900.
This large wall box is a well known design by the Fivemiletown Class from Ireland. The box has a repousse design of peacocks amongst foliage. The design is likely by John Williams who loved to use peacocks in his designs and is known to have produced designs for the Class for several years. The repousse work is very well executed with fine details typical of the best of the work produced by the Class.
In good condition overall. These wall boxes tend to have splits where the back plate meets the box section. This box was no different with two small splits at the edges. These have been professionally restored and this piece is now in perfect condition.
