Richard Llewellyn Rathbone brass inkwell
Description
A brass inkwell made. by Rathbone & Co in 1904.
The brass inkwell was designed by Richard Llewellyn Rathbone and made by his short lived firm, Rathbone & Co. The base is fully marked with the design number (682A), Rathbone & Co and 1904.
This is a well documented design by Rathbone and one that he later sold to Jesson, Birkett & Co who continued to make them up until 1910. This example feels slightly smaller than the later Jesson, Birkett & Co examples and the hinge design is also different.
In lovely condition and with a glass insert which may or may not be original but fits perfectly.
