The Potteries Guild of Cripples pewter dish with Ruskins

Description

A small pewter dish set with ceramic roundels made by the Potteries Guild of Cripples between 1904 and 1907.

The centre of the bowl is hand planished and the flattened edge has three inset ceramic roundels which look very much like Ruskin Pottery roundels.

This dish is illustrated in the Potteries Guild of Cripples catalogue (No. 579), circa 1905 , described as a sweet dish in hammered pewter with enamels. A very rare early piece of what was to become the Duchess of Sutherland Cripples Guild.
