Gibbons Art Nouveau copper frog inkwell

Description

A very attractive inkwell by Gibbons of Wolverhampton. Although primarily a lock maker dating back to 1833, Gibbons also produced some art fittings and this is a lovely example that probably dates to the early 1900s.

The lid features a frog sitting on a Lilly pad. The whole inkstand is hand planished. The inkwell appears to be made of pewter. The inside of the inkstand is marked for Gibbons, Wolverhampton.
