Clarion Guild of Handicraft (Liverpool Guild) rose bowl
Description
A copper rose bowl made by the Liverpool Guild, circa 1905.
Raised from a single sheet of copper this is a beautifully made little rose bowl with simple repousse decoration and a shaped rim. The bowl is hand planished and has developed a lovely patina over the years.
This rose bowl was made by Harry Myddleton-Worrall of the Liverpool Guild. The Liverpool Guild was one of the classes associated with the Clarion Guild of Handcrafts founded by Julia Myddleton-Worrall in 1902. The Clarion Guild of Handicraft was one of the many clubs and societies which were set up by members of the Clarion newspaper. The bowl is signed “H.M. Worrall” to the base and was illustrated in The Craftman Magazine in 1905.
The bowl has a fascinating history and I have written a short article on my news page:
