Spital & Clark pewtal hand mirror
Description
A hand mirror made of Pewtal by Spital & Clark, circa 1909.
This particular design appears in the archive of J.W.Singer of Frome who merged with Spital & Clark in 1914. Their archive contains many early designs by Norman & Ernest Spittle which was renamed as Spital and Clark around 1907. This design is numbered 12140 which I believe dates it to 1909.
The hand mirror is made of a pewter and aluminium alloy commonly used by the Spittle brothers. It has a hand planished finished and riveted construction with a repousse Tudor rose on the reverse side of the mirror. It appears to have its original mirror glass.
