Item 458

Keswick School finger plates

Description

A near pair of finger plates made by the Keswick School of Industrial Art, circa 1897.

The finger plates have the same floral design in repousse but there are very slight differences in the sizes and in the background hammering marks. Although both are marked correctly for the Keswick School, one has the Queen Victoria diamond jubilee mark which dates it to 1897. It’s likely that the other finger plate was made at a slightly later date to match.

The plates are the smaller finger plate size made by the School and both are in lovely original condition.
