Glasgow School brass vase
Description
A twin handled brass vase with repousse decoration in the Glasgow School style, circa 1905.
The vase has a repeating pattern of tulips around the sides in high repousse. It is very much in the Glasgow School style and in fact It appears in the book, “Glasgow Girls, Artists and Designers, 1890-1930” written by Liz Arthur. The book was written to coincide with the Glasgow Girls’ exhibition, Kirkcudbright Town Hall, July 3 – August 30, 2010 and the Glasgow School of Art, November 19 – December 20, 2010. The vase is in the private collection of the Dumfries and Galloway College and is attributed to Margaret Gilmore.
A rare piece and a beautiful design. The bottom edge of the vase has been straighten by a professional restorer and there are one or two minor splits in the brass on the flared top.

Condition: Recently polished, very slight distortion around bottom edge and one or two minor splits to the top flared section
