A large wrought metal newel post lamp made by Norman & Ernest Spittle, circa 1905.

At 44″ tall this is quite a statement piece and one would have needed a rather large newel post in the house for this lamp. In wrought metal and armour bright steel this particular lamp has what looks to be its original black enamel paint finish.

The top of the lamp is hinged to allow access to the bulb. 

This newel post lamp has been very carefully restored and re-wired by Chris Vickers at www.artandcraftsdesign.com

This design appears in both the Norman and Ernest Spittle catalogue and the Art Fittings Ltd catalogue, both from around 1905.

An incredibly rare find and a great finial!
