Florence Stern silver spoon

A rare silver spoon by Florence Stern made in 1908.
Florence Stern (1868-1952) was both a sculptor and silversmith. Born in Birmingham, she was the daughter of German parents. Florence studied at the Birmingham Municipal School or Art in the 1890’s. At the time the school was a leading centre for the Arts and Crafts movement in Birmingham. She subsequently worked as a silversmith in Birmingham until the mid 1920’s.
Florence exhibited silverwork and jewellery in Birmingham and Liverpool. She also appears in The Studio in 1894, 1898, 1899 and 1914. Work by Florence rarely comes up for sale.
The spoon is fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1908.
