Norman and Ernest Spittle brass clock
Description
A brass clock made by Norman and Ernest Spittle, circa 1906.
A very simple but effective design by the Spittle brothers. The clock has a flat, slightly over hanging top. The body tapers slightly top to bottom with a simple repousse pattern to the mid section. The clock face has very attractive repousse numerals and hands.
In incredible original condition with a lovely even patina and the original clock mechanism. The mechanism is quite a simple 36 hour movement and it works well. I now have it keeping time to within 2 minutes over 24 hours with the possibility to fine tune further.
This clock appears in a catalogue by Norman and Ernest Spital. After the death of Norman in 1902, Ernest changed the name to N & E Spital for a short period around 1906/1907. Image available on request.
