Norman & Ernest Spittle charger

Description

A rare full size copper charger by Norman & Ernest Spittle, circa 1905.

At 20″ in diameter this is the largest size of charger made by the firm and it showcases their capability in terms of both design and craftsmanship. The charger has a symmetrical floral pattern in repousse along with a dished centre.

This design appears in an early catalogue by Norman and Ernest Spittle that dates to around 1905. The charger was design number “1918”. It was almost certainly designed by Norman Spittle who produced most of the early designs by the firm.
