A copper inkstand made by Jesson, Birkett & Co, circa 1905.
This well known design by Jesson, Birkett & Co also appeared in their catalogue. Design “R 682A” is quite simple with riveted construction and a planished lid. It would originally have had a glass inkwell inside.
This piece is not marked although it has remnants of a paper label to the underside. This is a lovely example of this particular design with a very delicately hand planished lid.
