Arts and Crafts silver, opal and moonstone brooch
Description
An unmarked silver, moonstone and opal brooch in the Arts and Crafts style, date unknown.
When I spotted this brooch it reminded me very much of some of the early designs that Charles Robert Ashbee completed for the Guild of Handicraft. It’s unlikely to be a Guild piece as certain design elements like the fine silver rope-work are not right. I have asked a few of the experts that know much more about Arts and Crafts jewellery than me and the general consensus is that it may be an early piece by Sybil Dunlop dating to the inter-war years. Either way, it’s a lovely little hand made brooch set with three moonstones and a central opal stone.
