Gordon Russell brass plate warmer

Description

A brass plate warmer designed by Gordon Russell, circa 1925.

This is quite an unusual piece and I am currently researching it further with the Gordon Russell Museum. It is a brass plate warmer with pierced and chased decoration to the front and a riveted construction. The plate warmer has two detachable burners that sit in holes in a lower level.

The plate warmer carries the “Lygon” mark making it part of the range of metalwork designed and sold by Gordon Russell in the 1920’s. It’s incredibly well made and possibly a rare piece by the firm. The two burner reservoirs are missing the burners I believe but this piece is likely to be decorative anyway going forward.
