Gibbons Art Nouveau copper frog inkwell
Description
A very attractive inkwell by Gibbons of Wolverhampton. Although primarily a lock maker dating back to 1833, Gibbons also produced some art fittings and this is a lovely example that probably dates to the early 1900s.
The lid features a frog sitting on a Lilly pad. The whole inkstand is hand planished. The inkwell also appears to be made of copper. The inkstand is unmarked but I have previously sold an identical marked piece for Gibbons of Wolverhampton:
