Dryad Metal Works bronze bowl
Description
A bronze bowl made by the Dryad Metal Works, circa 1920.
A lovely example of the hand planished bronze wares made the Dryad Works in Leicester in the 1920’s. This particular design is illustrated in their 192o’s catalogue (No.247). This is my favourite design by the Dryad Works as the bowl has a lovely shape and a very attractive interwoven design to the base. I suspect the design was produced by John Sidney Reeve but I can’t be certain.
This particular bowl is in superb condition with a great patina to the bronze. Incredibly it also still has the optional metal net for flowers which can be seen in the catalogue. The detachable net has some damaged on one edge where it has split and someone has attempted a repair.
