A small brass dish made by the Newton School of Metal Workers, circa 1900.

This particular design appears in the Newton School design archive . The designer is unknown although it is most likely John Williams who produced many designs featuring peacocks. The dish has a “pie crust” rim which is commonly used by the School.

The dish demonstrates the variety of the designs made by the School and the different style of repousse work and background hammer finish.

The dish is beautifully made in quite a heavy gauge of brass.
