Potteries Guild of Cripples glove box

Description

A silver plated glove box made by the Potteries Guild of Cripples, circa 1905.

This long box is designed to hold ladies evening gloves. It has a hand planished finish and riveted joints, very much in the Arts and Crafts style. The top of the box has a central boss with a cut out flower pattern and a lovely red enamel.

The box is shown in the Potteries Guild of Cripples showroom catalogue (No.412), circa 1905. Much of the silver plating has been lost but the box has not been cleaned in a long while and has a nice even patina.
