Potteries Guild of Cripples copper tray

Description

A large copper tray with repousse decoration and ceramic roundels made by the Potteries Guild of Cripples, circa 1905.

This large piece is very much in the Arts and Crafts style. This design of tray is shown in the Potteries Guild of Cripples showroom catalogue (No.161), circa 1905. The tray shown, described as a coffee tray, does not feature the two ceramic roundels which really lift this piece. It is also much smaller in size – this is a big tray!

The back of the tray has had a catch added at some point so the tray can be hung on a wall.
