Jesson, Birkett & Co brass box with Ruskin roundels

Description

A brass cigarette box made by Jesson, Birkett & Co or A E Jones, circa 1905.

The lid of the box has two brass mounts with Ruskin ceramic roundels. The inside of the box is lined with cedar wood.

This design of box appears in the Jesson, Birkett & Co catalogue, circa 1905. It is also likely that this box was also made by A E Jones as it was also pictured in a by A E Jones’s son, Kenneth Crisp Jones.  In the book, The Silversmiths of Birmingham and their marks: 1750-1908, the identical box is shown as made by A. Edward Jones, circa 1905.
